Nature Hawaii Mobile Banking
Nature Hawaii approached me to design a digital banking ecosystem from the ground up. The project combined two challenges that rarely coexist: creating a clean, intuitive banking experience while building a visual identity genuinely inspired by Hawaiian culture.
Long before this project, Hawaiian and Polynesian culture had become a personal passion of mine, inspired by surfing and years of exploring its history, philosophy, and visual traditions. That interest even led me to create my own surf apparel brand, Kalākaua, named after the last reigning King of Hawaiʻi.
Rather than relying on tropical clichés or decorative patterns, I focused on creating a calm, authentic design language where every visual element supports the user experience rather than competes for attention.
I believe authenticity comes from thoughtful restraint rather than decoration.
Simplifying Financial Complexity
Banking products must support both quick everyday actions and complex financial operations within the same interface.
My approach focused on reducing cognitive load through clear information hierarchy, progressive disclosure, and intuitive navigation. Everyday tasks remain immediately accessible, while advanced workflows are revealed only when needed, keeping the experience clean without sacrificing functionality.

One Design System Across Multiple Platforms
Rather than designing separate products, I created a unified ecosystem built on a shared design system.
Reusable components, typography, color system, iconography, and interaction patterns ensure consistency across mobile, responsive web, and ATM interfaces while allowing each platform to adapt naturally to its own context.
The design system was created not only to maintain visual consistency but also to simplify future product development.

Beyond the Mobile App
Nature Hawaii was designed as a complete banking ecosystem rather than a standalone mobile application.
The responsive web platform provides space for advanced account management, financial analytics, and document access, while the ATM interface extends the same design language into public environments with simplified interactions and larger touch targets.
Although each platform serves different user needs, they all share one consistent visual identity and user experience.

Adapting the Experience
ATM interfaces have completely different constraints than mobile devices.
Larger touch targets, shorter user flows, and simplified interactions were designed to help users complete transactions quickly and confidently in public environments while maintaining the same visual identity as the rest of the product.
Outcome
Although the project paused before development, I completed a full digital banking ecosystem including the brand identity, design system, mobile application, responsive web platform, and ATM interface.
This project demonstrates my approach to product design—balancing business goals, user experience, technical scalability, and visual identity within one cohesive system.
